Welcome Christmas - well, almost!
The halls are decked, shopping for presents is as stressful as ever, and “Last Christmas” is all you hear on the radio: it seems that 25 December is here already.
Fear not, it’s not that close, but if you too are in the midst of a “
what shall I cook for Christmas?!” crisis, we at Kioene have the solution to all your problems. Well, not all of them, actually...but let’s
think about the menu, so you can concentrate on choosing presents and decorations.
Antipasti How to start a meal with flair? With a
tasty and fresh hummus to go with small
vegetable falafels or delicious bread croutons. Our proposal is this cream prepared with chickpeas and perfumed mint leaves. Serve it in the centre of the table and let everyone help themselves to start a meal with the right dish!
Starter Start with a good
barley and broccoli pie. Here you will find the complete (and very easy) recipe combined with a good artichoke veggie burger. Of course you can also present it on its own and save the goodness of Kioene veggie burgers for the main course!
Main course Since this is a slightly alternative lunch, make it special with an
unexpected main course: a
focaccia veggie burger sandwich! We have chosen the artichoke and sundried tomato burger for this recipe, but you can try it with any flavour you like. We recommend the new
broccoli and kale veggie mini burgers, which also perfectly match the colours of the starter.
Side dish Here is the side you don’t expect. To give the dish a burst of colour, you need a
salad that draws its inspiration from the East, like this one!
It is made with carrots, kale, red pepper and cabbage: cut everything into thin strips and pan-fry them to create a sauce. The result will be a
warm and very tasty salad.
Dessert No, we aren’t going to suggest a veggie burger for dessert, as well (although it might not be too bad, you never know!) For a
sweet alternative to the usual Christmas pudding and cake, try a
simple and delicious mug cake! The ingredients are few and simple: 1 tablespoon cocoa, 3 tablespoons 00 flour, 2 tablespoons sugar, a pinch of salt and half a tablespoon dry yeast; mix everything together and then add 3 tablespoons vegetable oil (or a mashed banana), 3 tablespoons almond milk and half a teaspoon vanilla extract. Bake at 180 °C for 14 minutes and then decorate as you like!
If you ask us, it will be a
mouth-watering Christmas!
